Like a phoenix you rise from the ashes
WHO: Nike, Sorey
WHERE:
WHEN: October 2nd
WHAT: A catch up, since it has been a bit and they are probably well due for one since Sorey went home last month and all.
WARNINGS:
[It's late in the evening, but that doesn't stop Nike from finally catching Sorey properly for a deent sit down and catch up, of course. After dinner, and likely liberal helpings of ice cream thanks to Mikleo, Sorey ends up inviting her back up to his room. Because even he knows there's....a lot that's happened, just from the bits and pieces he recalls and what Mikleo's told him since he returned from home and all.
He owes her this much, given she's probably been confused somewhat and been giving him space to figure it all and adjust as best he can considering. Sorey gestures between the bed, the desk chair or a couch he or Mikleo like to curl up and read in, waiting for her to choose where to sit before he situates himself.]
I guess there's.....a lot to catch up on, huh? Mikleo already went over stuff with me, so even if I might not quite remember everything, I more or less know what happens back home and all at least. Where did you want to start?

But when it came to the topic of the seraphim, or seraph, it was difficult to wrap her mind around it. Spirits exist in her world, but in the form of memories of those that held unfulfilled wishes. People with lingering regrets. All of which her world will always remember if it was something deemed very precious. A rain summoner's duty is to seal those regrets and burdens onto themselves as a way to enrich the land and the hearts of the living. She wasn't certain if her duties are linked to Sorey's own. Whatever the case, Nike was willing to listen all about it, now that Sorey was open to the idea.
Nike will take her seat by his bed as she has no qualms over invading it, in a way, as she has done so before. A thoughtful hum will escape her lips as she thinks about the best question to ask him.]
I asked Mikleo more about the seraph. The details you gave me about there being two kinds. What I'm curious about is -- how long did it take for it to happen? Are you the same age as Mikleo now or...? [She couldn't help wonder where he was all this time when Mikleo was alone, but didn't want to be too upfront about it, not yet anyway.]

[It's. Complicated, to say the least. Sorey runs a hand through his longer hair. Really it is still quite impressive that Sorey manage to get that far in the first place, when each time he purified a humanized hellion, he took on that Malevolence into himself.]
But I guess technically we're the same age. Well, Mikleo's always been about a year older or so but. [Details. They're close enough in age that it never really mattered between them.]
no subject
[It was easy to tell that the whole situation was complicated. With the way he toying with his hair, he was trying to find ways to better explain the little he did know. She doesn't fault him for it. There is very little she knows about her own family and powers to which she was beginning to slowly realize it is the case.
At the very least, his next response sounded more positive than the little he spoke about before.]
...in other words, you've been asleep the entire time that Mikleo was traveling around on his own?
no subject
[And then he almost looks kind of sheepish.]
But uh.....Y-yeah. Basically. I had no way to know how long it'd take for me to help Maotelus purify the land.

[She imagines there will always be a Lord of Calamity if there are more than one Shepherd throughout the ages. Sorey wasn't the first, and most likely won't be the last from the little he has told her before. There will be a moment of meditative silence before she decides to add.]
Is the Lord of Calamity the reason behind the Malevolence? Like their boss?

[Lailah warned him from the start, that it wouldn't be easy. That he'd be burdened by it all. And she wasn't wrong there. But regardless, Sorey still wanted to try and do his part, if it meant fulfilling his dream to see humans and seraphim coexist.]
no subject
[She couldn't imagine someone figuring out their fate as easily as that. Fate can be fickle at times too. Changing to fit the issues that need to be solved at the current moment. That's why everyone, one way or another, have a different type of purpose to fulfill.]
What did it feel like? Heldalf's domain, I mean. For it to be terrifying, there must be a reason for it, right?
no subject
[So it is kind of a combination of things, really. It took a bit before Sorey actually encountered the Lord, at the Basin when the war broke out between Hyland and Rolance.]
His domain was so powerful it affected my resonance. I couldn't see or hear Lailah, Edna or Mikleo. I couldn't armatize to fight him or defend myself either. But I could tell his presence certainly wasn't helping calm things down with all the fighting going on.
no subject
[It was surprising to hear such an extreme power to be able to disconnect Sorey from the others like that. His resonance was powerful, wasn't it? He was raised by them, the seraphs, so for him to lose his focus and power sounded amazing.]
That must have been scary though. But what do you mean by "all the fighting going on"? Did you lose your power in the middle of a battlefield or something?
no subject
[Because it must have hurt. Must have been frustrating, suffering the way he had without being able to end things himself. Sorey was at least able to help with that much.]
Ah, I first encountered him when the war started, between Hyland and Rolance. His presence was making things more tense and all....
[He'd taken on a lot of Malevolence himself attempting to figure things there.]
no subject
[A light nod of her head will be given as she thought about the Malevolence and the feelings a war will leave behind as well. She didn't know Sorey's world was suffering that issue. Then again, she should have known considering the way her future husband became known as the World King. And even so, she didn't have the experience to fully understand it neither.]
I wonder if his high Malevolence encourage the idea of violence between the soldiers fighting. It kinda sounds like that's sorta how it works. The Malevolence's effect on others and all. Considering if you go by the definition of the word too. [Can you tell she has very little understanding of the true significance of the word?]
no subject
[But it wasn't until Sorey, until he specifically went out to find out about Heldalf's past, that he was able to understand and help the other. As best he could. Even if that meant defeating him. Even for all that Heldalf did and had set in motion even decades prior.]
Something like that. His being there only reinforced it. Made things that much worse. I did my best, but without being able to armatize....I'd probably have been killed if not for Rose stepping in.
no subject
I'm sure you did everything you could to help him. He's now free from his torment. I think you should feel more proud over the final result. After all, you didn't kill him for no reason, you did it to save him.
[As much as she couldn't disregard the act of murder, in her opinion, it wasn't one. Sorey wasn't the type to take a life away. She knew that much about him.]
It sounds like you were very fortunate in having someone watching over you. Good thing too. Or else Hedalf wouldn't have found peace in the end. How many humans and seraphim alike did you have helping you other than Mikleo and Lailah and Rose?
no subject
[But once that's what it came to, Sorey couldn't and wouldn't back down. Even knowing the potential end. Still, there's a reason Rose claimed herself as the one to take life while Sorey gives it.]
How many? Well, there was....Alisha, she was my first Squire. Then there was Rose after her. Aside from Mikleo and Lailah there was Edna, Dezel and Zavied.
no subject
[She can understand Sorey's feelings over in wanting for a perfect ending; however she did understood it isn't usually one to decide these things neither. The world does. Fate, even, does the deciding at times too. It isn't in their mortal hands to make such important decisions, in her honest opinion.]
If you can't be proud of your triumph, then you should feel proud of the group that accompanied you through it all. You're all heroes, who took part of Hedalf and the world's rescue, as far as I see it.
no subject
[Which. He is grateful for. Their faith in him. Their support extending that far. Even if he'd have felt terrible if it had come to knowing he'd actually had to kill his seraphim companions and friends if it had come down to it.]
no subject
By sacrifice? What do you mean? I don't think you've ever mentioned there being one before other than the Shepherd has to do that.
no subject
[It had been such a relief, with that final blow, to see that the seraphim were alright. That he got that reassurance and confirmation before his intended rest.]
no subject
Yeah, it's good that no one had to sacrifice themselves. All they had to do was to watch over you, right?
no subject
[Mostly. It's still kind of upsetting he didn't see Rose and Alisha again, or Sergei. But at the same time, he still has Mikleo and the other seraphim.]
no subject
[As much as it all worked out, she couldn't help wonder if they all disappeared from the sands of time. Truth be told, she was holding to some hope that aging was different in his world compare to her own or even the one they are inhabiting in.]
no subject
[Which sucks. It hurts. Especially when he's aware he didn't really get to say goodbye to them before he left to confront Heldalf. But it was for them, for all the people he met during his journey that he did it. So as long as he knew they were okay and things improved once he did what he had to, he figures it's okay.]
