Ignorance is not a Defense. Neither are Doppelgangers. Usually.
WHO: Max Carson and YOU
WHERE: All over the Porter Cities
WHEN: Throughout May
WHAT: OPEN LOG FOR MAY while Max is trying to repair damage to his reputation and hunt down a gang of traveling vandals. Good luck there Max.
WARNINGS: violence, dumb hero making dumb choices
A : Reputation Reparations
[Max had been spending a lot of time working. Really working. He was too close to losing his job because of the doppelganger mess and he had to make sure that his boss could trust him again. He was a really nice guy to work for and Max didn't want to look for another job.
So he did any kind of stunt that was asked of him. Photo ops, gimmicky acts involving water balloons and lasers from his fingertips, and even a dunk tank outside of the mall as the weather got nice. Of course this special little tank dumped things on him instead of in them, and what kind of liquid or slime depended on if the participant could complete a Step Step Evolution dance routine. Thankfully he'd only dealt with water and milk so far, but who knew what could be next? He smiles at the next person to step up to the dance mat.]
Hey there. Maybe you'll be the one that will get the slime drop. If you've got the moves.
B : Case of the Traveling Shop Crashers (De Chima to Nonah)
[It had started with a flower shop he passed every day being broken into over six weeks ago. He had come by not even an hour later and found the elderly couple carefully trying to put their property to rights as glass, dirt, and flower petals were strown everywhere. And spray painted on the wall was a bright orange bull. Which made no sense to him at the time.
He stuck around to help them and heard the story about how they were the first ones to have this happen to them. The pizza parlor a mile away had dealt with something the previous week. And then it had stopped for a while. Then it had started again. More little mom and pop stores being attacked. Max had even looked up the incidents online to see what the police had to say. What he had found instead was a pattern of these kind of attacks happening all over the Porter Cities and not much in the news about the incidents. The one thing that stood out was that at each shop was a spray painted animal of a different color.
Who would pay attention when it wasn't some major crime sprees with big names and faces? Instead just looked like a bunch of dumb kids being assholes. But Max wasn't so sure. To be hitting places in every Porter City? Something had to be going on there. And that's why he'd been using his off hours from his job to investigate. After the doppelgangers it felt like he needed to focus on it even more. Weeks of not doing anything. How many more people were being affected?
No, he was going to solve this crime spree and catch these vandals. Even if it happened to take him into the darker, busier sides of Nonah's nightlife toward the end while following a lead on someone or group called "Zoo." Going into clubs, bars, and local hangouts for teenagers with what chatty charm he had to try and get to the bottom of it, but maybe he wasn't as inconspicuous as he thought...]
C : Apology Philosophy
[Also known as Max's other investigation into all the people or places that may have been hurt by his doppelgangers. He'd already thrown himself at the mercy of his favorite shops and given some decent sized tips in hopes of easing the way for him being welcomed back. Thankfully some of them were very understanding once the whole "double stole my life" thing was explained. Not like the people of De Chima weren't used to strange enough things now.
If he figures out you were one of those people who may have had their electronics damaged, energy stolen, or even just had a rude in counter with Bitter McLiferson, Max will want to apologize--and maybe you weren't but he thinks you were. That may mean showing up at your house, your work (if it's an open kind of place), or even randomly catching you on the street.]
Ah man, I've been looking all over for you. Can we talk?
D : Make Your Own Starter!
[Hit me up with a PM and we can plot something out, or just throw up a starter and I'll tag it!]

C
What do you want?
no subject
Okay, I probably deserve that. I just wanted to talk, though, man. Things were really crazy a few weeks back and it took me a bit to figure things out.
no subject
If you want to talk, you can do it here. I'm not following you anywhere.
no subject
Cool, cool. I can respect that. Not like you owe me anything.
[He pauses briefly, running his tongue across his teeth in his mouth as he gets himself in order. Not like he hasn't been throwing apologies around for days now, but he doesn't want to sound like it's just something he has to say.]
I'm not asking for forgiveness, since--I already said it--you don't owe me anything, man. But you deserved better than whatever you had to put up with and I'm sorry that it happened. I should have known better and paid more attention at the time. I should have seen what was happening and stopped it. I'll do whatever I can to make it right even if you don't forgive me, because you deserve it even if I don't.
[The rambling finally stops and he takes a step back, because he doesn't want him to feel like he was pressuring him or anything.]
no subject
I could be anyone. He shivers.]
Er- You aren't a shapeshifter then?
no subject
no subject
No, I don't believe so. I was er- threatened by a shapeshifter during that period, and since she could be anyone, and I don't know you, while you clearly wanted to speak to me, I thought.. well, it wasn't for any good reasons.

Do I have the moves? Do I have the moves?! Buddy, I have so many of the moves, they had to call the moves cops on me! The Moves Regulation Commission filed sanctions against me for completely wrecking the moves economy!
[...]
[...he looks down at the pad, then at the tank again.]
So this is like. Dancing, right?
[That confidence didn't last super-long.]
A
Exactly like dancing. But you know, choreography style. Never seen a dance game before?
no subject
Normally with holograms!
So uh. How good do I gotta do to get the slime.
no subject
no subject
[Okay, he kinda wants to see the slime but "Expert Mode" sounds kind of intimidating.]
Yyyyyeah! Obviously! I'm gonna ace it!
no subject
Pick a song then, bruh.
A
They are fun, they have everything he needs, and people tend to walk to him and ask for a photo (and he sure likes that kind of attention, even if it's awkward).
Today, most people are paying attention to someone else, though, and because her was curious, Steve decides to go have a look at who was making all that commotion. This is where he finds Max, under a small tank while people danced. And well, steve is amused enough to go give it a try (though he never did dance dance revolution in his life and most likely he won't be able to dump anything on Max).
But no one knows that, and when he is face to face with Max, he gives the other a smirk ]
So we meet again-
no subject
And thus the King cometh to look upon the great trial of his reign?

no subject
[He's being completely serious. His whole job is throwing people off their game.]
no subject
[ and speaking of that, he looks at the DDR ] So, I gotta dance, right?
no subject
[Because anything could happen and Max takes his role in this very Seriously.]
You pick a song and a difficulty. The higher your score, the more the bucket dumps on me. Think you can handle it? No one's managed to slime me yet.

[He catches Jacob at home, in the government-provided imPort housing in Maurtia Falls. Jacob lives alone these days, but he does have company- a very friendly yellow lab lunges for Max the moment Jacob opens the front door, trying to get past his human to greet a new friend.]
Champ, no! Down!
no subject
So, hey, bruh. How's it been?
no subject
I've been better, to be honest. Sorry for dropping out on you last time we met... I've still got no idea what hit me.
[Yeah, he never made the connection between 'Max's' behaviour and the weird energy fluctuations, either.]

[He eyes Max, beginning to pick up on the sense that there's something going on here. He holds the door open, with Champ thankfully behaving.]
Well, come on in. You want anything to drink?
no subject
Nah, it's cool. But thanks. I don't want to take up too much time, bruh. And it's not really a tea-time kind of talk.
